No sound when watching streaming content

TV is a Sony XBR-65X900F. A/V receiver is a brand new Pioneer SX-S30. When trying to watch streaming content on an app on my TV, the audio is from my cable box and not from the streaming service. TV is ARC-compatible and I have that HDMI port connected to the ARC port on the receiver. All the HDMI cables are brand new. I've tried setting the receiver to TV mode instead of Cable/Sat and that just mutes the sound completely. Am I missing something? Do I need to run the optical audio cable from the TV to the receiver?

What is the cable box and are you getting audio to the TV OK? I prefer to use the streaming services on the TV and output to amp in Dolby digital.

It's an AT&T U-Verse box and yes, when watching TV the audio is fine. That's what I'm trying to do - use the streaming services on the TV. Shouldn't the optical audio out to the receiver work for this? The receiver I just replaced was an old Denon 3805 and I used the same optical cable with it and it was working.

Cool. Yes you can just use optical but as you just found out you don't need to.
