No sound when watching non-HD Freesat channels

Novice Member

I hope someone can help me.

I've purchased a Denon DHTS216 soundbar to replace my ageing Bose 123 system. I've set it up as follows:

TV to soundbar via ARC
Humax Freesat box to soundbar via HDMI in

There's an Xbox and Bluray player connected to the other HDMI ports on the TV. Sound for those comes through the soundbar fine.

When watching TV via the Freesat box, if I'm watching an HD channel e.g. 103/106 (ITV HD and BBC1 HD) then the sound is fine through the soundbar.

When watching a non-HD channel e.g. ITV2, there is no sound at all through the soundbar. I can get the sound through the TV speakers, but that's not what I got the soundbar for!

When I used the Bose, I noticed that the sound came up on the display as PCM when watching a non-HD channel. This appears to be a common sound format from the research I've done so surely the soundbar can play that?

I've played around with the sound settings on the TV and the Freesat box but with no results. Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks,
