No sound PCM/DIG flashing Denon S960H

After 6 weeks owning the a new Denon AVR-S960H, some specific HDMI audio input is not recognized anymore. Video is no problem.

Playing TV channels from ARRIS 5202 (KPN) to Denon through HDMI creates flashing PCM/DIG with no sound (any HDMI port, any setting)
Switching ARRIS 5202 to play apps (e.g. YouTube), plays sound on the Denon very well.
Switching ARRIS to output sound as Stereo (iso Auto), creates flashing PCM/DIG on the Denon with no sound
Making ARRIS to output sound through its optical output, setting Denon to digital audit input, is recognized as PCM, but no sound.

Playing any app on a Roku 4800x to (any) HDMI port delivers great video and sound (Dolby Atmos).
Switching Roku to stereo output creates flashing PCM/DIG on Denon, eliminating sound.

Connecting ChromeCast or a Laptop to Denon creates flashing PCM/DIG with no sound, not at any setting.
Denon plays internet radio (ACC) and Bluetooth-Spotify from iPhone (PCM) very well.
Adding a TV to the Denon HDMI output, switching off the Denon in stand-by, allows any source to play sound on the TV, through the Denon in stand-by, very well.
See attached overview.
Obviously updated firmware, reset to factory settings, tried all settings, etc.
I'm thinking a specific audio circuit became toast, esp since the receiver worked well initially.
Any ideas?
