No sound from TV apps through the soundbar

I have an LG 75" NanoCell 8 TV with a (recently purchased) Vizio SB3612-F6 soundbar, but the makes/models probably aren't the issue.

I kept the cable box HDMI connected to the TV, and connected the TV/soundbar via HDMI-ARC ports on each. The sound quality was great, but there was a noticeable audio lag that I couldn't correct with the sync function. After a bit of research, I disconnected the cable box from the TV and connected it directly to the soundbar (HDMI). The result was a great picture with excellent sound!

However... when I try to access apps from my TV (Vudu, Netflix, YouTube, etc) there is no sound at all. Which kinda defeats the purpose of getting the soundbar in the first place.

I've checked the internet and couldn't find a solution. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
