I was watching a DVD on my DVD32R this afternoon when the sound was replaced by rapid clicking type noise. After putting the DVD32R into standby and then turned back on again all sound from the DVD was lost. The clicking noise had stopped, with just a very faint hiss coming from the speakers. The video signal coming from the DVD32R is unaffected.

The DVD32R is connected to my AV32R. Other inputs on the AV32R are working as normal, so I assume the problem is with the DVD32R. I've tried disconnecting the sync-link, and tried both optical and coaxial outputs without any success. Is there anything else I should try before contacting the Helpdesk at IAG?

    Regards

    Rob

    Hi Rob,

was the clicking noise coming from the drive or the speakers?

What you can try is a master reset. Mind your settings will be lost, so write them down.

    Master reset:

    1. Turn power off
    2. Hold down 'skip -' and 'display' keys
    3. While holding down the 2 keys switch unit on
    4. On display will be the word "EEPROM"
    5. Now release 'skip -' and 'display' keys
    6. Press any key.

    Hope this helps

    Theo

Clicking noise was coming from the speakers.

Thanks for the tip about doing a master reset. Will I need to re-install the latest software for the DVD32R after doing a reset?

    Regards

No, don't have to do this.

(Although this would be the next to try step if the master reset doesn't work.)

Something similar happens (very occasionally) with mine. Basically the sound fades in and out, but say 1 second in for 4 seconds out. Then will go silent completely.

I *think* it might happen when the DVD32R gets too hot?? After I switch it off (not into standby) for a few hours it seems to cure itself.

    Rob.
Do you know which loader mech is in your DVD32R? You will need to tell the helpdesk which firmware version is loaded, just go to the menu - info, it should be something like S58xxxx

I assume you have tried the DVD on other AV digital inputs?

Thanks for the tips - it turns out that it's my AV32R that had got into a bit of a tizzy! Disconnecting the power from the processor and re-booting sorted out the problem, to my considerable relief.

    Regards

    Rob
