Me for one.......why sell me a Panasonic S97 DVD player with HDMI out, if I cant connect it up to my PW7 at some point in the near future. I will be speaking to my dealer as they even sold me a HDMI lead whilst they wait stock of their HDMI boards.
Panasonic Uk really need to sort this mess out ASAP or all my kit goes back to the shop.

Strictly speaking the HDMI output on the S97 can be used just like any old connection, i.e for connecting to other equipment with. It just so happens that the XR70 amp, AE700 projector and a whole host of other related equipment also have HDMI. It's not purely for connecting to the PW7 with, otherwise it probably would have had a specialist tuner type connection.

You will still be able to pick up a High Def picture, they just won't be digital. The only downside to this would be if you wanted to use the new HD SKY box in a couple of years as they say that it's only HD output is HDMI.

Tru AV master, but the dealer that sold me the PW7 was boasting about how great HDMI would be and so I ordered the S97 on that basis aswell. There is going to be a hell of a lot of embarrased dealers that sold us our PW7s as 'future proof' when in fact they will not be. At the point of sale my dealer had NO idea that the HDMI board would not be released by Panasonic. But it wont stop dealers getting sore ears from irate customers.
