No signal Quality !

My mate did a Diy Free sat fit using an existing dish / lnb, it worked ok for a month, now doesnt. First some channels droped out, following a reboot it's all packed in. Although his box presents as working (2nd hand, could have developed a fault), the signal strength shows 70%, it shows no signal quality 0%. There's no reason to expect the cable (external damage) or dish movement (possible, but no reason why). Can anyone pinpoint a likely fault. I suspect the Lnb, but is this how they fail?

Try another box if possible. If it shows the same symptoms then it’s the lnb at fault. If not then the box is faulty.

My suggestions were dish alignment or lnb first stops. When reaching out the window to test if the dish seemed loose, it seems the lnb is not 'secure' in its location & can move up and down. Apparantly it clips in rather than clamps, thus has some play. This seems a possible cause to me & apparantly the fault is intermittant. (between some chanels, all channels, no chanels all with no signal quality displayed) Anyone else experienced / resolved similar?
