i have a sony vpl60 projector mounted on a beam across a high ceiling, with various cables (hd etc. hidden in walls) leading down to the av cabinet. my av guy set me up temporarily with dvd and ps2 connected to the projector with component cables. this worked fine.

i'm waiting on sony hss1100 amp & speakers but recently got ps3 and tried connecting via the hd cable to the projector, no signal. any ideas?? i went by the ps3 instructions which suggested everything needed to be switched off when switching between cables but it made no difference.

the ps3 works fine connected to tv with scart/component cable.

the hd cable is 20m long. i checked with supplier before installing they said optimum reception up to 15m, but will work fine at 20m.

frustrated

You have to go into the ps3 menu and change cble out settings to hdmi cable.

thanks florida747

i did that since i posted the query.

still no picture, but the projector screen reads 'out of frequency range'. i presume this relates to the frequency of the ps3 using component cable being 576i, while the projecter supports higher (1080) etc.

i've tried changing the freq in the ps3 settings but can't seem to do so.

any other ideas?
