Yeah, I have no picture when I route my cable box trough my AV Reciever (Sony STR-DB790). It's connected with SCART --> Super Video. But when I input the cable box directly into my PWD8's S-video input, it works like a charm...

I'm using the Component out on the Reciever... should it be told to "convert" (I know it doesn't) the S-Video to the Component port?

Hmm... didn't think it had too...? Because it doesn't convert S-Video to Component... just thought it could convert it in some way, to be able to output it trough the component port... Hmm... then I just wasted alot of money...

Well, I thought it would be able to send the S-video signal to the component port - but then it had to convert it, I see that now... I bought the reciever to get rid of all the cables to my screen... but with this reciever, I can't get rid of them :(

    Oh Bugger!

Can you not swap it for a receiver that will upconvert?

Not sure of the situation with the cable boxes in your neck of the woods Peter but if you want to go from Cable, Sky or Freeview here then you either need to have a Scart board in the screen or you need to convert the scart output to component using something like a JS Converter. You can then take component from the converter to your amp and go component out from your amp to VGA in the screen. Just one suggestion.

Might be worthwhile listing all the kit you have and see if someone can string together the best connectivity option for you. I see that your amp is similar to mine in that it is not the most expensive in the world therefore it will only output what you input so while it is good to use it to consolidate the number of cables to your screen, if you input component then you can output it but if you input anything else, then you need to output in the same thing ....please excuse the laymans terminology :)
