    Hello all,

Apologies if there is a thread on this topic already. I have looked and cannot find one.

Currently all my Media is on my PC from where i stream to Ipad, X Box 360 and more importantly my Squeezebox.
I would like to get rid of PC and store all my media on a NAS system but from the research i have done i cannot find one that will run the squeezebox software without having a pc or laptop on. This would kind of defeat the object.
Do you guys know of a system that i can load the squeezebox server on and run without a PC running.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dave

Don't overlook just using Wake On LAN (WOL) for the PC.

Do you have iTunes running on the PC? That would exclude the NAS using linux as the OS.

I like the sound of the Vortexbox, any ideas what retailers do them? They seem hard to get hold of apart from direcr ftom Vortexbox. Would prefer to go in somewhere and buy one if poss....

AFAIK, no high street retailer hold stock. It's direct or off t'Bay. Or you can buy a PC from the high-street and install the Vortexbox from a d/l, but that's not great value.

You can buy an Intel atom PC from someone like Fit PC | Welcome to the Green PC Revolution (no connection) and install VB yourself.

Note that you should probably expect to do some tweaking of the VB setup yourself, even if pre-installed, to get it exactly as you want, though there is plenty of on-line help available. I strongly recommend giving Logitech Media Server and SqueezePlay a go on your existing PC to see if it suits you before committing any cash to the project.
