    Hi,

I'm just wondering why no Panny 7 has been announced this year. I see Viera is technically based on Panny 6 and can't be considered as the usual annual step forward.

    Am I missing any news?

    Thanks, napp

As hornydragon says there are new 7 Series Plasma Display models due to be announced in September -

    Standard Definition - 37 and 42"
    High Definition - 42, 50 and 65"

Though I'm told not to expect the 65" unit until early 2005 and a very hefty price tag!!!

As for Panasonic Consumer PlasmaTV models - I've no idea as we don't deal with the Consumer Division.

    Best regards

    Joe

Will any of these have HDMI or DVI-HDCP? Im actually interested in purchasing 30-37" LCD's and particularly liked the 32" Viera LCD, but was gob smacked that it did not have HDMI, or at least DVI otherwise I would have got my wallet out there and then. Apparently, according to the Panasonic showroom in Staines, Panasonic don't want more inputs as it will confuse the public and Panasonic are not convinced that these will become standard anyway.

I'm in the market right now for a 42PE30, but would hold off if they're going to introduce a series 7 HD and Higher Resolution screen by September ?

Hi, first time on this forum. About this Panny 7 series, are they in any way related to the new Viera PX300, which have been launched last month in Japan? This model, equipped with a new chipset capable of delivering 3 billion( ) colors, is really something, and could really shake the market. Does anyone know, if these VIERA series could get to Europe in the near future, or are they exclusive to the Japanese market? Thanks.

I already had seen that anouncement, but nothing about the possibility of having those models here in Europe. Does anyone have a clue about this?
Are these VIERA series related to the new Panny 7?

Well the article says the Viera were launched in Aug 2003 and they have been appearing here for about a month now.

The PX300's have been launched in Japan in May so I guess it would be 6 mths to hit these shores ?

Seems like a major upgrade over the current Viera's. I think I might just hold out for couple more months now !

Viera will not be replaced when 7 hits as this will be in panel only form from september in 37" 42" SD and 42" HD with 50" in november time and then the 65". Possibly the PX300 uses the 7 panel but it might be a different beast altogether.

Reading the article the Viera PX300 does seem it'll be 7 based. It wouldn't make sense for it not to be ?

I suspect the PX viera may not be seen here.
I believe that Panasonic used the 'X' to indicate the HD resolution TV plasma that launched last year in Japan / USA.

I do not believe it was ever seen outside those regions as Panasonic don't think we have anything to demand HD resolutions. This may not change until reasonable take up of Sky's HD-TV. Especially as our DTV version is SD and will stay SD, unlike USA/Japan.
I've got the P6HD hoping it has'nt rusted/bio-degraded (!) by the time we have anything to show it's full capability.

    Steve.
