Great graphics, but very, very difficult.
It has progressive scan & 60Hz and widescreen for
    those that are interested.

Yeah i'll be getting it in a week or so cos i've just got PES3 & i can't put it down yet.
I love the first jak game & collected everything that could be got, thats the first platform i've ever done that on, cos i get bored half way through normally :D
I'm looking forward to this game, i'll be back with what i think of it as soon as i've given it a play test.

I was going to wait for Santa to get me this....:D

Having played Ratchet and Clank and loved it, and anticipating R&C2, does Jak II still stand up? Ratchet and Clank had a hell of a lot of cool weapons.

To tell the truth I much preferred R&C to J&D. (It just wasn't as annoying and I actually completed R&C. I got stuck on J&D right at the end with all of those platforms and impossible leaps.
J&D II appears just as frustrating BUT it does have some very nice touches. There is a minor annoying glitch in the graphics, but overall I would say it is worth getting. Just when you think you are not going to do a section you complete it so you keep comming back for more. Vice City fans will love it. (I was not a fan of VC BTW)

Cracking game. It's takes bits from Jak and Daxter, Vice City and Ratchett and Clank and combines them to excellent effect.

    Pity about the bad language.
Now the wee fella can't play it and J&D was one of his fav games.
Why oh why did they bother. Couldn't they have left it all out?

Can't you switch off the subtitles and the voices through the options on the menu?

That's true. I suppose it just depends on how old he is - if he's quite young then he'll probably want to skip the cut-scenes anyway.

What difference does his age make? It's a follow up to a cute game that youngsters played (and enjoyed).
I can see the kids asking for JakII for Xmas only for their parents to have to tell them no as it's now a 12+ game.
Thing is I can't see the point in including the bad language.
I'm no saint, but there's a time and a place for foul language and it aint in a sequel to a kid friendly game.

The difference is like Marwhite said, little kids are so keen to play they skip the cut-scenes anyway.
Meaning they won't hear the bad language will they?
If you don't want you're son to hear things like that, then thats fine.
But at a 12+ i can't see the language being too bad (i could be wrong?)

Got ya bat ready for the person that learns you're kid his first swear word :rotfl: ;)
    Only messin mate.

Well I bought this last week and I was a bit disappointed - I really don't like all the "mission" stuff and scooting about the slums on hoverbikes that handle worse my local supermarket's shopping trolley.......plus I HATE trying to read the little map in the corner as I travel around.

The good bits were any missions that took you "out-and-about" as it were, I've just started warping to different areas and there is an excellent array of wee beasties snapping at one's bum! So maybe it gets better as you unlock various areas. The additional weapons are good but still prefer Ratchet and Clank's!

Mental Jak's pretty cool, though...:D :smashin:

Agree with the above but still think it's a cracking game.
I'm only about a quarter of the way through and at the moment I'd say it's not quite as good as the first but we'll see.

Got a bit bored of the games on Live tbh, until today that is :)

Would recommend J&D2 but there is a fair bit of going back and forth which I know you're not that keen on? ;)

I've just completed Jak II and I did enjoy it - I still preferred the natural environments in Jak I but fair play to the developers for trying to evolve the game. There are some very cool bits, when Haven City becomes over-run by metalheads and the guards hae got their hands full, they don't give two hoots when you mow them down!

Now I need to get all those flamin' eggs......
