Just spoke to a dealer friend and was talking about pw7 and he said real shame they arent making them any more!! I was shocked and asked how did he know this , he said they noticed them missing off the panna site and called there panna rep and he said no more are being made once current stock is gone thats it no more will be made, and advised the dealer there would be no PW8 either, there our now concentrating on the vierra.

I did check the site and only the pw6 are on there now, so wether the rep is out of the loop or something I dont know but thats what I have just been told.

I find that fact that Panasonic will stop making plasma displays and concentrate solely on plasma TVs a bit hard to believe. Isn't the display business their bread and butter as far as plasma is concerned. Mind you if that's what the rep said then there may be some truth in it.

Until very recently I worked for a Panny disti, having only recently spoken to someone quite senior at Panny ( 7 days ), I would suggest your info differs from mine.

I was informed that the Vieras would lead the way on the new gen, but that the ' commercial ' 8 series would follow 8-12 weeks after.

That means Septemeber as previously stated on here by my calculations.

    hope that helps

At least one dealer on this board told us a few months back that there were no more PW7s coming from Panasonic. I guess the ones out there now are old stock still in the channel. I want one in black so for me it is the commercial PWD7 that I care about. I'm still holding out for a price drop when the HD stuff hits the streets.

    Hello all

Its been a while coming but yes 2005/2006 looks like the Year when Panasonic Consumer UK will only supply/support PlasmaTV not Plasma Display products.

Panasonic Business Systems UK will continue to only supply Display products - the current range being:

    TH-65PHD7BKJ (Charcoal)
    TH-50PHD7BKJ (Charcoal)
    TH-50PHD7BSJ (Silver)
    TH-42PHD7BKJ (Charcoal)
    TH-42PWD7BKJ (Charcoal)
    TH-42PWD7BSJ (Silver)
    TH-37PWD7BKJ (Charcoal)

These units will all carry on until October 05 and some possibly into the new year if past years are a guide to the release schedule from Business Systems UK.

I believe the 8 Series Display range will pretty much mimic the current range options.

    Best regards

    Joe

    Hello Horny

Business Systems UK only supply the 37" in Charcoal - I guess they may see a market for it in Silver in the 8 Series with Consumer UK out of the picture; though that's simply speculation.

    Best regards

My dealer said that there were going to be no PW8's but if there business displays only I can see he would be told there would be none for high street dealers, ah you know what I mean :)

Joe have you had it confirmed that they are still making the pw7's as the dealer I know said that there were no more been made period! business panel or not. and the pana business site is now only displaying pw6's?

Well, I have to ask :) . Who is offering a 42" PWD7 for £1,065? All I need is the panel, no stand or mount and I will buy a JS SCart -> VGA so no input board needed either. This looks like a deal that brings it into my price range.

What are the downsides of an import? Is it possible to buy an onsite warranty from one of the third party warranty providers that would cover it for the first year?

    Hello dino2021

We don't get told when they stop producing them - only when they plan to stop shipping them :)

Panasonic Business Systems UK will be in a bit of a pickle if they have no PWD7 (Charcoal or Silver) to supply and no PWD8 available until Oct 05.

Panasonic Consumer may well have stopped manufacturing/shipping PW7 to ensure they don't take away from the marketing drive for the PV50 and PV500.

    Best regards

    Joe

PS Tell your dealer to call me - I'm sure we can sort him out with some PWD7 stock ;)
