I just set up my new JS Tech RGB to Component convertor in the following manner

Sky+ > JS Tech box > Component in on A1SR > Quadscan pro scaler > Barco 701s CRT

Unfortunately I get absolutely no picture whatsoever from the DBS/Sat source on my CRT pj. I have the Sky+ Picture menu set to output RGB and I also have no problems feeding a DVD or XBox picture (also both connected vis componet inputs to amp) through the QS to the pj. The S-Vid feed out of the Sky+ > amp > QS > pj works just fine.

Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

    Hello Messiah,

I remember having the same problem with the rgb to svideo converter.

Extracted from the technical page at rgb website:

    Q. I was watching Sky Digital and the picture when completely black. Help!

    A. You've pressed the TV button on the remote control accidentally. This switches off the RGB output, simply press the Sky button to enable the RGB lines. If you've got several rooms connected via the TV link or other system, this can happen when another viewer in a different room presses the TV button

    Hope that helps

    Mark.

Thanks Mark. Unfortunately though that does not make any difference. I'm beginning to wonder whether there isn't an incompatibility between the signal being output fro the JS Tech box and the inpuyt required on the A1SR.

I'll give JS a call and see if they can help. Thanks again.

That's a lot of transitions to get to the projector.

I'm not familiar with this JS box but I suspect it is not sending the sync down the Y cable.

The Denon will probably do as good a job of converting s-video to component as the above box converting RGB to component. but now you've spent your mony I guess you want it to work.

Thanks Roland. I was thinking that the A1SR may well do as good a job cos my Sky pic was pretty darn good anyways but in striving for perfection (not with my 701s though  ) I thought it may improve things.

I'm not too worried cos if it don't work it will go back.

Any thoughts on getting over to sunny Cardiff??
