I have also got this version from the States and I have had no problems with it. I have also got a Yammy amp and a Pioneer DVD player

In the languages menu (I think thats right) you should be able to select DTS.

Are you not able select it from here or is it that you can select it but the amp does not register that the DVD is playing a DTS track?

This version has both DD 5.1 & DTS 5.1,as
mentioned before,go to languages from the main menu, this will bring up separate spoken
languages list.Select DTS (2nd choice down)
and this will bring up an explanation screen
about DTS and equipment needed to decode it.Select Yes to continue and this will start
the film with the less annoying DTS intro. If
there is still no sound then perhaps your amp
is failing to auto detect the DTS signal.Have
tried selecting DTS manually on your amp?

... I may be talking out of my RCE here but wasnt Pitch Black R1 one of those films that was released in different versions ie DD5.1 or DTS Cut or Uncut etc ?
Have you definately got a DTS one ?
Sorry if I have wasted your time ... Paul

Bit odd. Worked fine for me. I have the same version. I think you do need to select it when the film is playing.

    I'll have a go tonight.

Pretty sure this is one of those films where you can switch the audio between DTS or Dolby or indeed the commentaries track whilst the film plays using the audio button on ur dvd remote.

Just to point out that the R1 unrated DVD is in DD EX and is better than the DTS track IMO.

I compared the 2 sound formats and its pretty close, but i still prefer DTS, not much difference on this particular film but i thought the surrounds were more active and better defined and the bass was more aggressive which i love.

Riddick gets another outing in "The Chronicles of Riddick", which is, I believe, due for release in the not to distant. :)

I've watched this film many times and compared the two tracks many times!

I prefer the DD EX track, decoded as DD EX!

If you have not got EX decoding then go for the DTS version (which isn't in DTS ES)!
