    hi all...

trying to set up my davs880 to 32fx66 tv, when using
the crappy lead supplied with the dav it all works fine and
    is actually really good...

however was advised to use a s video to scart lead for better quality, when i use this the tv only shows the dvd picture in black and white!?

any ideas anyone? i'm a bit of a thick **** when it comes to all this AV stuff!

If anyone has the 32fx66 / dav system / sky digital / vhs
could you run me through how you have set it all up - what connections you have used etc...

    cheers everyone

Sounds to me like you don't have S-Video selected on your TV for the SCART you're using.

yeah, figured it was something like that...

is it as simple as finding the scart control in the tv menu and selecting it?

    Hi Nickdhall
on my panasonic tvs remote youve got three coloured buttons red green and yellow .red is for av1rgb green is av2 standard scart and yellow is av3 for s-video-to scart and s-svideo cable. On the sony there will be something on the remote that will switch your av inputs to the desired scart selection have a look in your manual and iam sure it will tell you how to asign your scart inputs.
Hope this helps in some way .
    Gonzo.

One other thing that it might be is that the s-video /scart is directional. In other words you might find that you actually have a scart->s-video cable rather than a s-video->scart.

i had been emailed through a connectivity diagram from sony which gave the wrong scart socket to use (as well as a load of other stuff that was completely wrong!) so it wasnt using the svhs enabled scart! - simple as that!
it now looks and sounds amazing, and the tv doesnt buzz!
    cheers
