Got a Fujitsu Plasma P42HHA10ES which has a scart socket only

and a Sony Davs550 DvD player which has a S-video and yellow video phono socket

when i connect using the yellow phono video out from dvd to the TV scart socket the picture comes in colour

when I connect using s-video from the the dvd player to scart on TV it only comes in b/w

tried using differnt s-video to scart leads but all give me b.w picture

any idea's? or am i stuck with video out rca to scart .

and is the picture any clearer using any other methods cause

to tell you the truth im not that impressed at the moment.

One other ? It says you can control this tv by pc using the rs232 cable to adjust settings

do i need additional software to do this ? is so where do i get it from ? on the net ?

OK, so you've composite (yellow) and S-Video.

Not sure on DVD player, but on mine you have to select how you want to output the screen i.e. composite, s-video, scart etc. is there any such setting on your dvd player?

Also on the plasma check the settings on the scart socket (on screen menus?) - i don't *think* it should be set to RGB, if it is try another setting.

Are you double, positively sure that you've got an S-Video to Scart cable and not a Scart to S-Video? The pin connections are different and you would end up with a bw picture if you used the wrong one.

I only mention this because I've done it :D

You will need to select svideo in the AV menu on your TV.

That's assuming, of course, that the SCART on the Plasma is S-Video capable.
