No Brexit delay due to coronavirus

Sadly I've found out too many times on here that attempting to debate with right wingers is impossible. So I shan't bother anymore.

No wonder this country is so screwed.

A debate involves stating an opinion and providing evidence to back it up, not making rash claims with zero evidence that collapse under even elementary scrutiny.

I can see that when you finally get over the 2016 Brexit vote, you’ll still have the 2017 and 2019 election results to deal with. It would appear that your side lost those votes too!

A very big welcome to the Forums:clap:

Like the cavalry has arrived :smashin:

Trump himself calls Johnson Britain Trump. Why do you think he does that? Just for fun? Or because they share near identical political beliefs?

Do you think a centrist would offer a cabinet post to someone who believes in the death penalty?

As for the Tory manifesto, there has been no policy more right wing than brexit. Nothing. Never. It's no wonder it delights the Tory headbangers so much. Or maybe you think Mogg and the rest of the ERG fanatics are secret socialists?

Brexit is a right wing policy? I think you need to check your facts!

Well glad you did. Need some more pro-UK members to keep the EU lovers on their toes.
Are you actually claiming leave voters are more patriotic and remain voters not so much?

All voted for what they believed was best for the country, so equally patriotic. Anyone who couldn't be arsed to vote, was less patriotic, imo. This takes me back four years, with both that and the pompous "I'm doing this for my kids" claims, as if the other lot were selfish parents not thinking of their kids.

Sadly pretty much every piece of research ever carried out shows that people on the centre-right/right and more tolerant than those on the centre-left/left - whether it's around being able to debate different views or what you'd think if someone married someone with different political views (remainers and those on the left far more intolerant of the idea of marrying a leaver or Conservative supporter, than vice versa).

Kotatsu Neko in this thread seems to be the very embodiment of this. And I can only think and say that's really sad for the future of our great United Kingdom.

I'll look forward sometime to seeing the conclusive piece of research that shows that those who voted remain are intolerant of the idea of marrying a leaver.

In fact this is quite topical as we're actually seeing now just how tolerant in debate the "centre right/right" are being with regards to putting a piece of cloth on their face. So I'm comfortably going to dismiss the notion that in 2020 they are somehow more superior in this area. Oddly enough too for the record, I've seen more than one Brexit Party member choosing to ignore any science on this.

We also have a 'right' leaning Times reporter getting reprimanded earlier by the official Auschwitz Museum for calling our government plan, "Mask Nazism".

So in the interest of balance allow me to also say how really sad it is for the future of our great United Kingdom.

Ah the old, "I just came for the OLED but got embroiled in Brexit" chestnut ;)

Madness how that happens!
I don't see what's strange about about how some new members pacificolly squiffically specifically come straight here.

I said ‘more intolerant’ and here’s an article and quote on Yougov’s polling where that was shown:

“The YouGov poll of 2,380 people found more than one in 10 (11 per cent) of remainers would describe themselves as “very upset” if their offspring tied the knot with a Brexiteer, while another 28 per cent said they would be “somewhat upset”.

Only 11 per cent of leave voters said they would be in any way upset if their child married a pro-EU partner.”

so that’s 38% of remainers vs only 11% of leavers...

And similar on left vs right:
”The poll also found that 11 per cent of Labour supporters would be “very upset” if their child married a Tory, while just 2 per cent of Conservativessaid they would be similarly aggrieved if the positions were reversed.

Some 28 per cent of Labour supporters and 17 per cent of Tories said they would not consider dating someone from the other political party.”

You are welcome to dismiss or claim what you want, I’ve no problem with people having different opinions, but in this case there’s some actual research to support mine :)

HAHAHA, They haven't fully thought that through. This EU Sceptic and Brexit support would actually give 'their child' a chance to an EU passport :D Hypothetically of course since a gorgeous English rose had the foresight and snapped me up already.

Perhaps time to start a dating agency, and target EU loving remoaning remainers :rotfl:

On a serious note, I never understood excluding relationships based on political party leaning. It doesn't make any sense to me.

It depends how irritating or irrational it can make that person though, putting you right off them. My personal political beliefs are a mixed bag so centrist would be a reasonable average, so I do find activists of all types fairly annoying, inflexible, self-satisfied and smug. I have broken things off with active Tory and Labour girls/women in the past because of that. Normal plain voters no problems. Also broke things off with a girl massively into crystal healing and astrology because she talked way too much about that stuff which was total BS.

I broke up with a girl because she dyed her hair Green  she wasn't though.

That is, perhaps, one of the ridiculous posts I've read here, and I've written some daft ones myself!

I agree it's ridiculous, but that's down to a significant part of the UK population rather than my post!

UK YouGov survey reporting: Two in five remainers would be upset if child married leave voter, poll shows (as I added above)

And sadly it's the same across the pond: Since Trump's Election, Women Especially Pay More Attention to Politics (despite the title, see the sections from one-third in until the end)

I won't go on as it's quite depressing...

He did provide some evidence to support it. Do you have conflicting evidence?

On my limited experience, the comment about Kotatsu Neko is spot on.

One poster? I know many people on the right who are extremely intolerant of the left.

I don't believe in the evidence because both sides are just as bad as each other sometimes. I think it's impossible to quantify.

Just a much lower proportion than on the left!

So you have no evidence then? Thanks for the confirmation.

I don't believe the YouGov poll is an accurate representation at all. It's a highly emotive subject that a poll couldn't really give an accurate analysis of. Most polls put remain as the winner, most polls put Labour to win in the past.
