I have bought some components and built a new PC for the first time (previously always bought a ready made one from retailers, consisting of...

    Gigabyte P35C-DS3R motherboard
    Intel core 2 duo E6550 2.33ghz CPU
    2GB Geil DDR2 ram
    Geforce 8600GT 256Mb gfx card
    400W PSU and case
Using my existing sata HDD and peripherals...

I have assembled it all, booted and reinstalled XP and installed the mboard drivers, but cant get any audio going.
When I install the audio drivers it gets so far then just gives a popup saying
"Install Realtek HD audio driver failure" and closes the installer...
Have tried many times and also downloaded version from Gigbayte and Realtek and both do the same...

    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

I had the same problem when installing the realtek drivers on a asus motherboard
The solution in my case was installing service pak 2 before installing the audio drivers.
You probably have already done this but just in case . My 2 cents
