    Hi there,

So I got my X all set up. I have downloaded and installed the 95gb for Forza 7. However, I can't seem to find, or download the 4k assets for CoD? I hear the total file is file is about 107gb. Is anyone else having this issue?

I only have a 1080p TV, but I don't think this is the issue.

    Thanks,

    Dan

I think MS said the game won't even start (if you are connected to the net) unless you have the the most up to date version and the 4K asset update is required for the X.

In My Games and Apps when you hold down LB, RB and Menu (that hamburger style button) what shows up in the metadata (when the game is highlighted)?

I had a similar issue before getting the Xbox One X on my launch Xbox One console in that I had download Enhanced assets ticked but it would not download them for Forza 7 (other games were fine), I had to do a full restart of the console for it to start.

If you can launch and run COD then it is already enhanced. Only a few games have large downloads (ones that have higher resolution textures to download). The COD 4K enhancement was included with its standard day 1 patch. And it is nothing like 107Gb. More like half that at most.

Agreed the day one patch was around 10Gb and fully installed and updated the game is 54Gb.

I think all these articles saying that 4K games are huge and will fill your hard drive in no time are a bit mis-leading as it’s only games with texture packs like Quantum Break and Forza that greatly increase in file size but those have so far been the minority, pretty much all the other 4K enhanced games aren’t that much bigger than if they were installed on an S.

Yeah, I installed my copy yesterday. It asked if I wanted to install the 10gig update.

    All looks fine to me.

Misleading and a deliberate attempt by some sections of the media to discredit the console. They tried "its too heavy" "there are no patches" "we don't know how much difference the patches will make compared to the Pro" and their last port of refuge "look at the huge file sizes". I've seen ones deliberately mislead by reporting that EVERY game will double in size, when in fact its less than 10% of enhanced games.

I rather prefer games with 4k Textures as it really adds to the overall quality. I hoped COD would have them but it looks like it doesn't but I am still happy with the game looks wise.

Yes indeed. Thats the point. High quality textures provide the best experience. So the file size is larger? Who the hell cares.

No. You have a setting wrong somewhere. Are you playing in HDR or SDR?

HDR. So when you start a game does your TV switch into HDR mode? Your game should start and as it loads your TV should change from SDR mode to HDR mode (assuming its an HDR game)....

I hit the display button on my remote & it shows 4k resolution no other notice pops up when starting the game. I have tried gears 4 & shadow of mordor, but they look kind of dark with no color pop. I am trying to figure out what is going on.

Sounds like your TV isn't switching into HDR. Have you turned HDR on for the relevant HDMI input in your TV settings? Its usually a setting called "UHD Deep colour".

Beyond that it could be that you have to turn HDR mode on manually on your TV - though I've never heard of that before.

Definitely sounds like the X is outputting HDR but your TV isn't correctly switching into its HDR mode. Which should happen automatically.

I will try switching HDR on manually to see if that works. Thanks for replying.

You might not even be able to. You can't on my OLED. Only way is for the TV to detect an HDR signal. Beware you don't enable some sort of fake HDR mode.
