I have found the Sony site specs surprisingly unreliable.
You should be able to download the manual and check the 'real' specs.
Incidentally, I have my Sony set to 14:9 as the "non-wide" default. This loses only a minimal part of the image top and bottom and makes better, more pleasing, use of the 16:9 area. Also a number of 4:3 programmes were made with 14:9 aspect ratio and have black bands for 4:3 viewing.
To achieve this set Screen Format to Wide, Auto Format On,4:3 Default to Off. Then during a 4:3 broadcast manually set the screen to 14:9.
