Allegra Stratton, hired on a salary thought to be around £125,000 in November 2020, and who was to front No.10's televised press briefings (quite separate from the existing Coronavirus press briefings) is going to have to wait a bit longer before being seem as that public face. The briefings have been postponed again, and are now delayed until mid-May according to this piece in the Guardian. There are also continued speculation that Downing Street is having doubts about the idea of televising political press briefings now that the Cummings influence has gone.
This comes after the reported £2.6m refurb for the new briefing room:
Never mind, it's only taxpayers' money after all. Why not waste it on vanity projects.
