My understanding is that the gamecube will have an add on that will allow it to play DVD's

The Gamecube will only take 8cm DVD's so if it were to play conventional DVD's, it would require a seperate DVD drive box. Not much point really.

Nintendo licensed the GC hardware to Matsu****a, who are bringing out a GC with a standard dvd drive fitted in, it's not an add-on.
