    Quite good, but not reliable.

    It will freeze or jerk the movie several times when looking a single movie.

    It will lock up or show really bad compression artifacts on badly pressed or scratched discs.

    However, it can be firmware upgraded and the DVD-ROM can be changed.

    If a suitable replacement drive can be found and firmware bugs corrected, this will be one hell of a player for the price.

    PS A price notch above is Philips 962SA with multi-channel SACD and PAL progressive with Faroudja DCDi. Based on my preliminary testing the DVD performance is flawless, only some slight cropping of image (very common with all players).
