Nikon FX kit lens

Hi all

Awaiting a d610. I will need a standard lens for it so will buy one next month. I'm pretty sold on the 24-120 f4 which I should bag for approx 500 pounds.

Is there any other options you think might be better in this approx price range. Thanks

Always difficult to know what to recommend without knowing expectations and types of shots you want to take. However, the 24-120mm f4 is my go to general lens and it performs admirably. I use it more than the 24-70mm f2.8.

I've pretty much decided on this one. I don't think I need heavy f2.8 zooms for FAX, my primes can supplement low light situations. Thank you

I ended up buying a cheaper 28-105mm 3.5-4.5 AF-d. Its 90% of the newer lens at 1/5th the price. I think I can do without VR and the 4mm from 24-28 (though I realize 4mm at the wide end is a lot).

I started out with the 28-105mm and it's a pretty decent lens tbh. OK it's not as sharp as some of the modern lenses and it doesn't have the fancy modern coatings but I got results I was happy with.

That's good to hear. I basically wanted the d610 for portarits and low light. When it is really called upon I will use my faster primes. I just needed a reasonable walk around lens. Should have this monday
