I'd go for the 18-70 instead. I've had both, and found the 18-70 was crisper where as i found the 135 had great sharpness but was let down by horrible fringing. Its also pretty slow at the long end which makes it pretty useless in all but brilliant daylight.

Thanks for the replies guys. Chris1210 that is an interesting point about the 18-70 lens compared to the 18-135. I am looking for a lens that will be suitable for portrait & landscape shots and possibly some macro shots as well. Will the 18-70 fit the bill?

    Cheers

if you want a decent all round len's with the D80, digitalrev are doing the D80 + the sigma 17-70mm f/2.8 lens for £742 including p+p this len's has some great reviews and can also take macro shot's, and at f/2.8 has a larger aperture than the 18-70mm take a look here

    got mine for £665!!!!

    very pleased with it.

it was from currys with a 10% off code, and a free delivery code.

if you want some (really badly taken) shots with the d80 (18-135) i can post a few on imageshack or somewhere.
