Nikon D40 Question

Hi All,
I am just a beginner at photography so please excuse my possibly dumb question.My wife bought me a Nikon D40 outfit for xmas and the pictures are outstanding but my question is this_____ When i use my small Fuji digital camera i can view the subject on the small lcd screen prior to taking picture but i cannot do this on the Nikon D40 ,Is this normal? Am i missing something?

No you cannot use the LCD screen on your D40 as a 'preview' screen. This has only recently become available on the higher end Digital SLRs.
