Damn it, thought it might be some new fangled FX lens that I could use as a walkabout landscape lens  ;)

Just picked up the new Nikon 16-80 DX. Comparatively lightweight but decent build with tight tolerances and, from an initial play around, seems sharp enough corner to corner wide open across the focal range. Close focus distance is just 12" or so. Off to Cornwall for annual hols next week so looking forward to giving it a workout, weather willing.

24-70mm f2.8 rumours have been floating around for a while tbh so it's not before time imo. 24mm's not quite wide enough for most of my shots tbh, and the 18-35mm is nice and lightweight anyway. I'm sure they'll both be very good lenses, and I"m expecting high things of the 24-70mm, but I think both will be very pricey. Yen conversion shows the 24-70mm will be £1500 and no doubt UK prices will add a bit too :(
