starting with 300k living in Spain .No doubt others will follow.I dont know whether to shout or laugh. And just to think I once considered relocating to Spain for my retirement. Now there is more chance of seeing pigs fly Spain wants UK to foot healthcare bill for British citizens
Two of my closest friends are Brexiters as well, and I can barely bring myself to even speak to them

From the comments section of the original link:
1) Could not agree more. UK residents in the EU should be made liable for their health costs.
2) Well I have private insurance so you can knock one off that total, I actually don’t know anyone that doesn’t have private medical insurance, their own capital & pensions.
and from your link:
1) When you move to Spain, the first thing you have to do is obtain A NIE number. This will allow you to get your Residence Cerificate and if you are a pensioner, also to get registered on the Health system, Your SIP card. You will then be allocated a Doctor at a Health Clinic. The SIP card is then presented every time you need to see a Doctor. You will also need to change your English Driving Licence and if you have your English car with you get that registered in Spain also. Some people seem to want to make their life more difficult than need be, because they are trying to remain under the radar, as they may have something to hide. Don't get me wrong, living in Spain can sometimes be difficult but it is a learning curve and people should always be willing to embrace a new culture.
2)I understood from talking to expats in Spain, that what the EU health card got you, was not free health care, but the same health care as the locals, which is not free in quite a few EU countries.

Project Fear still alive and kicking in deepest Sussex:)

I though I would check up on the 'net and see what the situation is regarding payment of healthcare bills for expats in Spain because my comment might be old history.

IG has laid it out - the situation is complicated and not everything is covered by the Spanish healthcare system - the patient (Spanish or expat) has to pay some of the costs. Couple of websites say the expat healthcare bills eventually end up on the NHS system having gone through the Spanish healthcare system.

So I still could be correct - the NHS end up paying the healthcare bill for expats living in Spain.

We won't be sending the EU £10 billion. We might have to pay £300k? Yeah.

I think it's 300k UK people in Spain, not £300k for their healthcare! £300k would barely cover my Viagra bill.

and thus you came to be to known round these parts as 'BonerPhilly112'... or is it 69?

all these facts may make LGS head explode... ;)

How shallow is that? If you snub your closest friends that easily, it shows how close they are to you

LGS said:
I cannot relate to people on the internet, they don't exist to me, they are like characters in a video game, so I only post to see if I can provoke a response from them

It's no secret that this attitude made him persona non grata in General Chat.

We are all familiar with LGS's style of embellishment. The short first post is a good example because it includes:

1. "I dont know whether to shout or laugh"
2. "I once considered relocating to Spain for my retirement"
3. "Two of my closest friends are Brexiters as well, and I can barely bring myself to even speak to them"

He doesn't seem able to simply lay out the facts without weaving himself or imaginary people around him into the storyline. Pity really, it makes his post a bit of a sham.
