NEWS: Use of EU satellite decoders to become an offence after Brexit

and that's why Murdock pushed his Sun readers etc. to push the vote over to Brexit because of that ruling with scant regard for the mess it could cause to Britain.
It's 50 years this year that man started here with the News Of The World ..
50 years of damage manipulating UK politics for his own gains with zero regard for the damage it's done & he's still at it - couldnt believe he was seen storming out of Teresa May's victory celebration party when he found out she'd ended up with a hung parliament & Corbyn had made all those gains.

Wake up and smell the

What news?

Sorry - didn't realise the whole post was clickable!

Seems reasonable. Pre-Brexit we are part of the single market and have the rights of the four EU "freedoms." It is these freedoms that allow us to use broadcast devices intended for other EU countries in the UK. Once we leave the EU then we lose those freedoms - so will no longer be able to use other countries TV services to avoid paying a higher charge in the UK.

Does this include radio channels. Also would using a short-wave receiver become illegal??

How many radio programmes, especially short wave stuff, do you have to pay for, that listening on a foreign radio station circumvents the need to pay?

Read the post and work out what it implies, because it isn't what you seem to think it does.

Does that include Motorized Satellite Systems?

It's the decoder, not sure how they will police it, will they have people with a compass outside our house checking the dish angle lol. Also with the decoder, most TVs sold buy Currys etc support usals etc.... At a guess it will hamper the sales of legitimate cards and cams, all this will do imo is push more people towards nefarious means to view the content

Does that include Motorized Satellite Systems?

No, not motorised, not multi- satellite, not a satellite dish or dishes aligned to other satellites.. that would turn the UK into a police state like North Korea not a more open market like er Singapore. It's aimed at people who've bought say Sky Italia systems or Viasat and used in the UK by brits although both cost more so they no actual avoidance, they're paying more & the only foreign satellite boxes I've installed dishes for for ages have been for people who come from the country. The headline case of the woman publican in Southampton using foreign satellite in her pub showing football was the test case that they (sky/epl) lost in the EU court has been largely dealt with.

For the real crimes, the Lever-sham enquiry needs reopening and the real head/s to roll but if you took every penny off Murdock it would not come close to the damage he's done to the UK .. & now Brexit.

The real crime in this country is the people of Scotland having to pay for the over-inflated value of another country's league before they can view their own league's games!

However shit it is we still want to watch it and for the money to go to it.

Currently, we are using mostly the US satellites for our GPS systems as the majority of the European Galileo satellites are off line. It is almost beyond feasibility that we would be stopped from using them anyway. If they blocked us, it would block all the EU too. I'm sure that the US would love to do it!
So it is false news.

But that is relevant to the opening post link anyway, which was referring to the avoidance of paying for pay tv by using a different sat transmission.

Having just read the article again, I wonder how BREXIT (when/if it happens) will affect the rights of UK expats living abroad who may be using a non-EU decoder to access UK television without paying a licence fee or possibly without paying a subscription to $ky?
