NEWS: TCL launches C71 and C81 4K QLED TVs in UK

No detail about back light type/full array stuffy stuff and number of zones ect?

The 8 series in the US has like 30x30 so loads of zones. But would be nice to know for us here...

Great pricing should worry Samsung.

Yeah although Atmos from a tv? can not imagine its anything other than a box ticking exercise.

Both edge-lit with the top of the range model only offering 400 nits of brightness. Basically they have decided that Europe is going to be a dumping ground for inferior products once again this year.

They are pretty much simply playing on the QLED name to sell these I suspect.

Ah cool. So rather useless TVs in terms it being 2020. Will avoid.

TCL is kinda disaster but for low low end of tv market they should be ok.......

Shame they aren't genuinely useful competition for Samsung, LG and even Hisense. 100hz panels with some decent local dimming would have done the trick :(

TCL have been available in Australia for a while now and generally they are comparable to Hisense in what they have to offer.
Buying any TV product can be a panel lottery, even for a two and a half grand brand name TV, but the one thing you do get (in Australia) with TCL and Hisense is a three year warranty which other brands don't provide without the extra expense of an extended store warranty.
Most of the Chinese made TV's I've owned have lasted at least 3-4 years (no issues) and were replaced just for an upgrade, unless you are really unlucky TCL like Hisense can offer some good value for money, but you should do your usual on line research first.

The 65 inch TCL 825 in the usa is on sale for 900 dollars in 65 inch... That tv started last year at around 2.000 euro. Now, this tv in is coming,..... coming,.... coming,... to Europe in the name of X10... As a 700 dimmingzones mini-led. But I question this tv. As it is seen as a nogo in the USA.. With wrong colours sometimes.. flashing backlight in dark spots.. And now, given away at dump-prices.. of 900 euro's.

Here in Germany they sell the C715 55“ for 499€. I bought one to try it out, but I am no expert. If there is something I could check with the TV for you, let me know.

And please excuse my English.

Any pictures and could you provide your opinion of the tv. Any idea how much the 75 inch 815 sells for? Thanks

TCL make their own panels (CSOT is their panel making subsidiary), and have some of the best VA panels on the market, with the best viewing angles for a VA panel I’ve seen.

Samsung has invested heavily in CSOT and been using them in many models for at least 4 years now, and will almost exclusively from next year after Samsung Display will stop making their own panels.

Hisense also uses CSOT panels (except in 50”, when they use Taiwan’s AUO/AcerUnipacOptronics).

For Chinese TVs, I think Hisense is a better brand in terms of everything.

The build quality of Hisense and parts used are comparable to Panasonic or LG. I would expect the same reliability from ALL the big name brands in today’s age (Hisense and TCL can now be counted among the big names).

Costco has the new Tcl TV shown on their website banner but isn't showing for sale yet

I have not used it that much so far, so I don't have an opinion yet. The C81 75" is being sold for 1429€ in Germany.

Just found these details on pricing for 65 and 75 in models

The TV shown in the picture looks more like the EC780 (german model number) from 2019. I think it's the EC788 in the UK.

I'm sure it's the new 815 with the onkyo speaker which is mentioned on the banner, could be wrong though?

HDTVTest has a recent interview with TCL , in which he details their models roadmap. C71 & C81 then X10 is next using MiniLED for a backlight, then X91 as 8K. Also talks about details of HDR, HDMI 2.1, AndroidTV platform.

Hi everyone, I come from China, and thx to some special channel, we could get C81 much earlier than your guys
I would like to share more details of C81 for your reference. You could find PDFs of all there sizes in attachments.

One thing I need to point out is 55 inches uses CSOT 60hz panel. And both 65 and 75 inches use native 120hz panel. Is that good news?;)
65 inches use AUO panel

Thanks for the details

Here are some pics taken by me and other owners, from 65 inches. I have to say, thanks to QLED panel, C815 shows great image quality and good black level. And coming with 2.1 ONKYO sound system, you don't have to add a soundbar to enjoy Dolby Atmos.
