Apart from a small display, can anyone point out what the M9500 does that the K8500 doesn't?

"New features include a Private Cinema Mode, which enables the player to output its audio to Bluetooth headphones, thus allowing you to enjoy the latest blockbuster release without disturbing the rest of the family. The other new feature is an auto-optimisation feature that is designed to allow the player to analyse the signal it is outputting and automatically adjust the TV's picture and sound settings to optimal levels."

There's no DV content (in the UK) so what's the point of adding it?

No thanks. No DV and Cinavia on USB/DLNA, Samsung are the worst BD players.

Well the curved design certainly points towards Samsung ploughing on with curved panels in 2017 ... so a pre-CES bonus clue for us.

Automatically adjusting my picture, woohoo, Will it have noise reduction that you cant turn off on it again?

Cant wait to see Samsungs new QLED tvs at CES that arent QLED based, just the same SUHD but with even more confusing marketing, like HDR1500.

More to the point what will be the price can't see it selling if more than £300 as you can get a Panny UB700 for a smidge over that.

I would guess they will come out at £400 then drop down to £300 within a couple of months.

£275 dropping to £175 but with no disks or just one disk. Based on the 8500 being now available for £200 with three UHDs bundled.

That sounds about right Doug as it does not seem as featured as the Panny which I think is a better looker anyway. So £300 max with 1 movie at launch is about where I put it and low £200's within 2-3 months and forget the discs unless they put some thing more current than the 3 with the 8500.

What the above article notes is the upcoming expected LG release of a player at CES. It's highly likely that will have DV to go along with their DV capable TVs. That Samsung (largest TV market share) who don't have DV televisions are releasing a new player without it may be an indication that they don't see a market for DV (or not this year anyway).

Hope its completely fanless.. I will buy it right away then. Interesting as well when they will start to update the Smart platform to maybe a more Tizen like platform.. they can't just keep going with that oldish samsung bluray smart tv layout year after year, needs to change it at some point.

Ha! That is Samsung down to a T. Always looking to shaft their older customers out of features in an attempt to force them into upgrading.

The new to come UBD-M9500 appears to show some refinements over the existing model UBD-K8500.

The ability for the Blu-Ray unit to "automatically" output the proper signal flow for TV's with HDR seems to be a improvement over the UBD-K8500. But what model TV's will this function work with is unknown. I have 9500 series Samsung 4K TV's that it should work properly on. The 9500 series are capable of HDR Video.

Going through other postings the new unit is expected to come out below $400.00 US.

Does anyone know if the remote on the UBD-M9500 will have additional control features?

Does anyone know what we will see on the "small" digital read out in the center edge of the unit?

Does anyone have any information of the availability of the UBD-M9500?

Looking forward to any additional information.

Many TVs settings are locked down when showing UHD HDR, so what exactly is going to be adjusted?

Hey guys, just received my Samsung UBD M9500 UHD Bluray player yesterday. I did buy the Sony X-800 last week and tried comparing the picture quality of both back to back with the same movie discs and display devices. Disclaimer - My display is not a 4K device. Its a 1080p projector (BENQ HT 3050) with a THX calibrated mode. So both the players were converting HDR to SDR. I found that the Samsung colors were much better than Sony which was quite surprising. This was true with a more than one movie disc. So at this point for me the samsung is a keeper and the sony is going back.

I do have another question related to audio - I have a DOLBY ATMOS/ DTS-X compatible receiver (Yamaha Aventage 3050). I have a 5.1.4 setup. First, I set the output of the Samsung Bluray player to uncompressed bitstream and let the receiver do the decoding (I set the receiver mode to "straight"). Then I set the samsung bluray audio option to PCM (My goal was to let the samsung do the decoding). I noticed that the second option (PCM) was better than the first, with respect to the Atmos effects. How can this be possible? I expected the Yamaha to be better. Am I not setting the Atmos settings properly in the Yamaha? Any thoughts appreciated.

THIS 2017 MODEL DOES NOT HAVE 3D ON BOARD THE 2016 MODEL DOES HAVE 3D!!!!!

      NOtE !
The 2016 player is 4k with HDR Player and also has......." 3D on board". I own three Samsung 4K TV's. A top of the line 2014 78 inch and a top of the line 2015 78 inch and a 2015 88 inch. All these TV's have 3D on board and capable of 4K HDR. I recently purchased 3 UBD-K8500 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player's for each of the TV's and I must say they are just great. Love the quality of the picture as well as the 3D and the HDR.

I truly feel Samsung and all the manufactures should consider putting 3D back in the 2018 series lines as many of us true cinema lovers would like to have all the great technology that we have purchased.

Having a huge library of 3D movies that I would not give up enjoying them without the right TV and Blu-Ray player.

In my opinion the 4K HDR feature that has not proven itself in regards to quality 4 K HDR as most movies are not produced in true 4K to begin with. The producers need to take the Blu-Ray releases of movies more seriously and not releasing older Blu-Ray movies in 4K that look just as good as up-scaled normal Blu-Ray releases.

Considering the price of a new 2016 player running about $189.00 to 245.00 I feel has better value for the price as well ah having 3D on Board.

I realize 3D is not important to everyone but for those who have a large 3D collection certainly does not want the 2017 model currently costing $399.00 unless they will discard their 3D library.

I have read multiple reviews of 4k HDR movies and find very few titles that exceed the quality of normal Blu-Ray releases that are up-scaled. , Samsung has done a outstanding job on there 2014, 2015 TV's that included 3D in their top of the line models as well as this 2016 UBD-K8500 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player.
