Seemingly the Q8 will be edge-lit in Europe. Note sure if that will be the case in the UK or not - but if I was a betting man ... well you know the rest.;)

Disappointing if it's only the Q9 that is FALD in the U.K

I'm pleased that the top Q9 range is FALD, but disappointed that in the UK, as opposed to the USA, there is no 88-inch option. After all, a couple of years ago Samsung did do an 88" model in its top UK range, the UE88KS9800, and UK houses have not shrunk in the interim.

Oh, so the only sub 55" qled is the bottom rung q6?... That's a bit , well, rubbish... Do they think we are all footballers with huge tv rooms?

We will be meeting with the UK reps very soon and will have confirmed UK specs as soon as we do.

So when does company A holding back pricing to see competitor B price point become a cartel?

Were they links to other sites? They don't like it when people post them in threads for news stories.

Only if A talks directly to B and arranges prices between them. Which I am sure they would not do!

Samsung will once again fall further behind LG and other manufacturers that use LG OLED panels for high end displays . We know these Samsung displays will be overpriced for what they are . One only has to look at the 8 series thread to see .....

      And a graveyard .

Members that want the best PQ ( affordable price ) are choosing OLED over this Samsung bull PR year on year now . Before anyone gets on my arse , I'm still rocking a 58" DX902 .

You have a point but like you said, it all depends on the price strategy. Rrp don’t mean much and there are evidence of a significant drop in the USA.

The q9 has the potential to give a zd9 and oled a run for their money. So waiting for reviews and how the price war unfold before making any hasty judgments.

Only stinky point like my son will say is not bringing a q8 fald. Lousy decision from Samsung and hope they reverse it.

Q9 , we will need to know how many dimming Zones , peak brightness and the price before one can make a judgement on that . I would at least hope it trounced the ZD9 as it is Sammys latest model going up against last last year model from Somy and anything less or similar would be an own goal from Samsung . I only put LED up against LED as , well it's not OLED.

Are these model numbers the same as the 2017 range? How can we be sure we're being sold a 2018 model?

The latest Samsung Q9 and the 2016 Sony ZD9 are the only top end back lit LED TVs available since Panasonic discontinued their excellent 902 models .A comparison review between these two models would be welcomed if possible.

They could have had a bigger impact by having FALD available on more models.

Heard all this last year from Samsung saying that have fixed all LEDs issues yet.... well we all know what happened:

'Colour volume' is pointless when that colour is diluted by a back light and your head has to be dead center and i mean dead center of the screen.

2000 nits is pointless when 99% of watching is not mastered over 1000nits; and when it is it ends up being 1% of that content is.

Colour meter and light meter scores are well and good, put it on real life content and OLED PQ wins every time in every aspect.

'Q' LED is good for the One connect box, One remote, no gap wall mount, anti reflective filter and amazing Samsung software<< this is what you are paying for not OLED beating PQ

Assuming we get the same Q9 as the US it could be a great TV.

Samsung still pushing out curved TV's..:censored:

Q9 sounds promising if you can believe or see through Samsung's PR spin. ZD9 beater, that would be something...Do we know how many dimming zones the Q9 has?
I'll stick with OLED until true Quantum Dot (Micro LED) in a 65/77" size comes to market and then not a first gen model...

Still, Looking forward to the review guys...:lesson:
Let's see if the Q9 is indeed from the land of milk and honey...:p

If Samsung didn’t spoil my joy with q8 fald incident, I will be over the moon right now. I am surprised by the negativity before even testing products...
A top of the range monster in 55? Super
A q8 fald not in Europe YET. I am working on it !!!

Mark my words, if no other surprises, this q9 should be more than good and a plausible alternative to oled.

We should be happy that we have such choices instead of endlessly comparing who has the biggest.

To resume, q8 fald aside, great news indeed. Let’s see tests and prices now

Samsung must think a Q8 fald would affect Q9 sales.. which im sure it would... If the panny FX750 doesn't hit the mark then the Q9 55 about nov/dec should be below £2000 and mite be worth it , if its the TV that Samsung say it is. :)

Goodness! I could get a B7 65 for nearly a grand less. Samsung really need to step back into reality when it comes to their prices.

No wonder they saw such a massive loss in market share last year.
