Shame they couldn't redesign the awkwardly shaped sub.

"Meanwhile, the 150W Q3060S active sub is the slimmest the company has made."

Now back to 8" driver with slimmer box vs. 3070S ( 2x 6,5" / ported design). I think these speakers deserve much better subwoofer and if someone is reading this post and thinking about the 5.1 package, one can always ask the price without 3060S. Example BKE offers better bang for buck if one isn`t restricted size wise.

Q Acoustics had Q7000S (10" driver) at some point which got some praicing from AVF Ed Selley, then they downgraded to smaller Q7070Si (8" driver) which was noticed not being on same level as the driver & cabinet were shrinked , then the 2x 6,5" version which didn`t get much love plus the amps had problems. I understand in business sense that they want to make it cute, small and well super slim. Sells more. Plus they have limited budget to work with as they need to get 5.1 package priced low enough. Sadly lot of money has gone for the looks.

Specs on paper haven`t changed that much with the speakers. Tweeter is new and it extends now to 30kHz, new crossover design. Cabinet inside has seen some changes plus larger size. Width has stayed same 170/150mm, but height and especially depth has grown noticeably! Great!

      3020: 260mm H x 226mm D
      3020i: 282mm H x 278mm D

      3010: 235mm H x 200mm D
      3010i: 252mm H x 253mm D

      3050: 1000mm H x 298mm D x 200 W
      3050i: 1020mm H x 310mm D x 310 W

Some of the negatives what has said about 3020 were about the bass extension. It will be nice to see how this new line with larger cabinets can compete with others. Still i would have liked to see larger standmount model (3030i) with ~6,5" mid-bass driver, but probably not good for UK market. Also the center channel is still quite small, but some compromises are needed to sell more. Looks wise these beat 100-0 many of the "boxy" competitors. Very high WAF!

@Mark Hodgkinson will you get new 3000i serie reviewed near future, any plans? Thanks.

My take is that the bass extension is a bit of a moot point as all speakers would be cut off below 80hz.The sub would be ditched immediately and replaced with a Monolith DF+,Arendal 1 or better.

These series and the cheaper XTZ offerings are an affordable entry into "serious" home theater. There are more expensive soundbars out there and even the best of the breed cant compete with a real home theater setup.

I just dont have the space anymore and the only decent alternative seems the Smyth Realiser A16,which is still in development.

I've always admired Acoustics thinking out the box when it comes to designing speakers but the Sub looks like a 70's heater.(sorry Acoustics) :)

What sort of price do we expect this to be for the 5.1 package?

      Currently got the 2000i range.

I agree these look nice and affordable. But for me personally, I wouldn't consider a range of speakers that didn't include bi-pole surrounds as an option. Many small and medium sized rooms place the listening positions too close to direct-firing surrounds and surround backs, so that the surround effects can be isolated and not enveloping.

Even with Atmos, where direct firing is recommended, in a small or medium sized room surround effects can sound too directional. Of course you can point the speaker at the wall to disperse the sound but that is not ideal acoustically, and often doesn't look very nice either.

Therefore, for me, manufacturers and ranges without bi-poles are best ignored for home theatre unless you have a large room or intend stereo only.

I'd even go one step further and ignore ranges that didn't also offer ceiling and wall speakers with matching drivers / tweeters / timbre. Such options mean you may have flexibility in future without having to sell everything and start again.

It's kind of annoying that there is isn't some kind of Dolby Atmos DTS X configuration option. It would be a serious contender for my next home cinema speaker package if something like that was offered. Something similar to the Focal Sib Evo package.

That's nothing to be disappointed with. I've got the 3050's as left and rights along with the matching centre and 3020 rears. Fantastic sounding setup. The 3050's are great in stereo too. Epic bass.

      True.

The old version is available for £830 which is a bit of a bargain compared to £1,345.

You could always have 3010i as height channels either in the front walls like in the picture or front side walls up high aimed towards MLP similar to example SVS Elevation.

I understand that most can`t have such "large" speakers up there, but the other option would be to use Q A 7000i Plus aimed again towards MLP similar way as lot of people here has the CA Min Minxes. Not 100% optimal, but still adding something surely!

As for upfiring Atmos speakers lot of speaker manufacturers doesn`t believe them to bring the best results for everyone. You need to have rather small room - short distance for it to work and some tweaking plus ceiling type and height plays role too. In-ceiling/On-ceiling being the best, but drilling holes to ceiling at rented flat, not option for many.

Or why not pair them with some speakers form the Q install range of in ceiling speakers?

Or Mission LX3 & Wharfedale Diamond 230 or the new Fyne F302 which were highly praiced, all within same budget. It`s like flipping a coin if buying without listening. Neighbour likes Toyota more, but you might like Honda better. If you can make a trip to nearest RS shop they would let you listen all these models and compare them head to head. That is what you should do. There might be some suprises and you might like X model better than what you earlier thought. No bad choices here, just need to find which suites your ears best. I wouldn`t buy speakers trusting other dudes words (including reviews). Sorry this was not the answer you were looking for, but if it`s possible do the trip to hifi shop. I can guarantee it will be worth it and this will enable 100% satisfaction afterwards cause you know you selected the right model for YOU, not by someone else. Buying something blind it might leave one thinking could that X model still be better...
