Should be a win-win for consumers and the premiere league, which should make big gains from obtaining the middle mans profit, with more choice and better value for consumer. Competition and innovation can do wonders for everybody. The overall income for the premiere league should rise with the whole world being given convenience and choice without being tied to any middle men.
Pretty sure fans will grow to like this model in the end.
The NFL works extremely well, with the GamePass / streaming app being pretty well designed and fully featured. They don't have the same restrictions on screening all live games, so the exact model may not be so easily translatable, but by and large the mix of streaming / over the air broadcasts works superbly, especially when you consider the RedZone channel which shows live highlights (effectively) and makes the Jeff Stelling afternoon show look like something from an archaic by gone age.
