LG Electronics on Sunday unveiled its full lineup of TVs for 2021, including the first 83-inch organic light-emitting diode TV model with advanced self-emissive lights, to cement its leadership in the growing OLED TV market.
Dubbed “OLED evo,” the new model features an upgraded OLED panel that boasts better contrast ratios and picture quality due to improved lights.
It marks the third advancement in LG’s OLED TV technology since its launch in 2013. LG announced 4K High Dynamic Range OLED in 2015 and 8K OLED in 2019.
The company will release the first 83-inch OLED model this year, projecting that the size of the global OLED TV market would double from last year.
LG will have a total of seven OLED TV models that are over 70 inches this year, up from four last year.
This year, all OLED TV models will use panels that reach 100 percent in color fidelity, certified by Intertek, the company said.
Anyone know when the rest of the catchup services (other than iPlayer) will be rolled out for the remaining 2020 sets?iPlayer and ITV hub are available for the 2020 range now. To be honest, I would just need All4 and maybe UKTV but eveb then I have all the catchup apps on my Apple TV.
Sounds like upgrades this year for the regular consumer models is pushing the DCI colour space out to 100% and an updated 4th gen A9 chip. My feeling is that the higher brightness panel will be reserved for the higer end sets.
Keep an eye on Amazon (and the warehouse) - the Harmony Elite routinely goes for ~£120
In addition, it has also unveiled a 77-inch next-generation OLED TV panel that has improved luminous efficiency by about 20% compared to the previous one by applying high-efficiency organic materials and adding a light-emitting layer. This panel will be applied first to the top-end models released this year, and will be gradually expanded.
LG Display, which mass-produced the world's first OLED TV panels in 2013, has newly mass-produced 83-inch and 42-inch OLED TV panels from this year in addition to the existing 88, 77, 65, 55, 48 inches, and significantly expands the mid-size lineup of 20-30 inches It plans to expand into areas such as gaming, mobility, and personal displays.
OLED TV panels, which had shipments of only 200,000 units in the first year of 2013, recorded 4.5 million units last year, and plans to expand to 7-8 million units this year.
LG Display's TV division vice president Chang-ho Oh said, "We will expand our differentiated competitiveness and market dominance in the premium TV market through the evolution of OLED."
I don't think the c1 will have the new evo higher brightness panels?LG C1 must be included
Later this monthWhen are Philips due to announce their 2021 OLEDs?
Would prefer an AppleTV button instead of Rakuten
Is the Harmony Elite version the one to get ?
