NEWS: LG Display showcases OLED display technology at online SID 2021

So does that mean they're going to announce the 83" G1 then?

Right now the G1 range is 55, 65 and 77", the C1 is the only LG OLED that is available in 83" size and that's not advertised as "Evo" so this press release is confusing unless there is an inbound LG 83G1.

It does sound that way:

Headlining LG Display’s OLED panels for the consumer TV market is the company’s largest panel yet, the ‘technically superior’ 83-inch OLED Evo which raises the brightness output by up to 20 percent over previous generations.

Currently, this display will find itself in the range topping model of the LG Electronics Gallery G1 OLED range for 2021 where the improved brightness will help produce more vivid and natural images through better, brighter expression of colours and contrast.

Though the new paragraph between those sentences does kind of suggest those two statements are not linked. I have heard that all panels will be moving to 'Evo' spec, so maybe the 83 C1 will transition to an Evo panel, which will then filter down through sizes/models over the next couple of years?

Would be sweet of it looked like the one pictured, without the bottom sensor bit sticking down in the middle of the screen, looks nice with only the black bezel.

I thought 'Evo' was LG Electronics' branding, not LG Display's.

In a recent interview on Stop the FOMO's YouTube channel, a US retailer said that LG Display "only makes one type of panel". Others have been pointing out that some (but not all) LG C1s being sold in the US have the same spectral power distribution as the G1, which is different to last year's CX, indicating that LG Display and its customers must be in transition between two different panel technologies.

Presumably, the old panel inventory is being used up on the low / mid-range TVs and the newer panels are being supplied for the higher-end sets like the G1 and A90J. Hopefully next year everyone will be getting an 'evo' panel even if it doesn't bear the brand name.

83" is nice, 31" and 42" announcement would have been better and at least affordable and very high demand for those sizes right now.

Actually I realised the 83" panel is very important here, it allows LG to half the 83" panels to easily cut 2 x 42" size panels, so perhaps this is an important step in getting that 41 or 42" oled size panels released.
