Does the ZEN CAN Signature come with a charger and if not what type of a charger would I need for this?
Hi TechVeg,

Thank you for your question.

Any charger capable of providing 5V will do for our ZEN CAN Signature, but we do highly recommend our very own ultra-quiet iPower X power supply.

But does it actually ship with supply (even basic one) ? Or you need to have one or purchase one extra?

Hi Ftorek,

I can confirm our ZEN CAN signature 6XX does come with our iPower X.

Did you know the ZEN Signatures are now available as a set with a 4.4mm Pentaconn cable included?

Here's our handy set-up guide on this dynamic duo work together.

There's more than one way to connect the new ZEN Signatures. Watch our More Connections tutorial to see how to get the best out of these two beauties.

Hi - ok some research means that it seems you get a power x with each component which is great....

However a couple of suggestions.... I would use with my pc and my 2.1 speaker system as a preamp. The only output from the can is the 4.4mm balanced socket (no rca like on the zen dac)

Luckily my 2.1 system has xlr inputs but finding any 4.4mm pentaconn to dual xlr cables is a nightmare...

Maybe ifi should look to produce these adaptors ? Or maybe on a future release put back the rca outputs ?

I see that the dac still has rca outs but then i dont see any way of muting those when using the can.... in this use case the original zen dac seems have the upperhand (at least until the cables needed are more available to buy)

One other question.. if using the balanced output - and headphones are plugged in does it automatically mute the balanced out ?
Cheers

Matt

Hi Matt Horne,

Thank you for your comment.

If you purchase either from our ZEN Signature range, you will receive an iPower X with each unit :)

Hey Matt Home,

Thank you again for your comment :)

Those 4.4mm (XLR) cables certainly are a necessity! There may be something in the pipeline soon;)

In regards to using the headphone and balanced output, no this is not the case. One does not mute the other.

I hope this helps :)

What's in the box? And by box, we're not talking packaging. What's inside that Space Blue chassy that makes the ZEN DAC Signature a cut above?

Just a reminder that the ZEN DAC Signature is a pure DAC! Its simplified circuitry provides the opportunity to upgrade the signal path and critical components. Boutique parts and top-notch components such as Panasonic OS-CONs and Elna Silmic II capactors. And a stunning black military grade PCB board to boot.

It’s kinda of a shame the boards are hidden from view these days as they get prettier 😀

So, we've picked 5 headphones for you to choose from. Which one should we tailor the EQ Curve for in the next edition of the ZEN CAN Signature?

We're interested on your thoughts on each one?

Firstly, the HIFIMAN HE4XX:
A pair of high-efficiency, open-back Planar Magnetics. The sound is smooth, engaging, and even across the frequency range, with airy, sparkly highs and the Planar bass slam that Hifiman is known for.

How can we make this headphone ever better? In the HD6XX it was commonly acknowledged that it has reduced treble and bass below 100Hz. The EQ Curve in the original ZEN CAN Signature 6XX boosted this. What do you think we can do for the HIFIMAN HE4XX?

Don't forget to vote: FIVE headphones but only ONE specialist headphone amp can be produced. Which one do you think it should be? | iFi audio

Quality parts matter!

• Our custom OV4627 quad amplifier contains four independent Fet Operational Amplifiers using a “folded cascode” internal design also found in the so-called HDAM discrete circuitry

• Volume control uses a Tokyo Cosmos Electric (Tocos) high end multi-track potentiometer with close tolerance channel match

• Adopting mainly surface mounted components eliminates loadout’s and terminations as possible source of noise, distortion and so-called parasitic components for dramatic improvements over most leaded components

• The thin film resistors are used in all audio position have some of the lowest noise and distortion of all resistors available in the market

• The use of TDK C0G Capacitors (only surpassed by Teflon capacitors) and Panasonic ECPU eliminate capacitor induced distortion components

We additionally use an higher grade PCB Material (Black) and Panasonic Os-Con in the power supply and Elna (Silmic II) in the audio circuit to eliminate (the already very low) distortion from electrolytic capacitors

Right, so Meze 99 Classics. What's your thoughts on this one? Is this a candidate for the EQ Curve on the next edition of the ZEN CAN Signature.

Remember, you decide: FIVE headphones but only ONE specialist headphone amp can be produced. Which one do you think it should be? | iFi audio

The Meze 99 Classics delivers perfect natural sound even to the pickiest of audio lovers. The walnut wood earcups, soft earpads, and the spring steel headband delivers crisp and clear, non-distorted and balanced sound.
