I expect Google are banking on most people already having an Xbox/PS4 controller to use..? And people are forgetting that you can use this service for free next year, just that it's 1080p/60fps, so it will be literally paying for your games.
I guess its just hard getting people to buy into the concept, especially with the comments on here and the other places around the intrawebs. Also most gamers are old-skool and tribal (need to own games, pledging allegiance to either MS/Sony). I have no loyalty to either Microsoft or Sony even though I've used/bought digital games for both current gen consoles over the last few years.
The more I read, the more I seemingly fit into their target group - I want to play the latest next gen games, but ultimately not have to stump up £450/500 for the next gen consoles. I have 300mb fibre BB so should(?) get 4K/60 with no issues. Will never have to worry about updates/patches. Buy a game, play it straight away. Take a controller into work, load a game up at lunch on my Chrome browser...
As an example, I could see myself signing up for the Pro sub to play Cyberpunk 2077 in 4K, then go down to the Base tier for periods as well. You just miss out on the free games you'd get during that period. Games you'd buy would still be available to play on the Base tier.
I know given their history, people are right to question Google, I know I have in the past. But I just can't see them pulling out of something like this. Ultimately, it's up to Google to prove everyone wrong on this one. Might take until next year when Stadia Base arrives, but I think they are in it for the long haul.
