So basically the same as the models they replace? That's unusual (not). Current models already have support for both eARC and Airplay 2.

      ARC / eARC COMPATIBILITY

AirPlay 2 compatibility added to Denon AVRs via software update

      http://rn.dmglobal.com/usmodel/List-Of-AirPlay-2-Compatible-Devices.pdf

Maybe they should stop trying to imply that such receivers can actually provide 145 watts per channel. There's also the fact that the previous model also had all HDMI ports supporting HDCP 2.2. Ypu'd only ever get 145 watts if powering a single channel at 1kHz while imposing a 6ohm impedance. 2 channel driven will drop the power output down to about 95 watts while all channels will result in you getting well under 50 watts per channel.

The annual merry-go-round begins. Feeling a bit left out now with a four year old 6200.

Funnily enough I was just looking at my Marantz 7010 and couldn't find the model. It's there but the font can't be any more than 2mm high. Other than that the 7013 looks identical from the front and I've no doubt the 7014 will look identical too.

You never know they may get rid of the 'iconic' (as described by Marantz but many people have other words for it) porthole display.

Well I like it. Although I also like the fact there's a full display under the flap as well.

If my x6200 didn’t fail after 2 years of use, and the courier hadn't have lost it, then I would have been more than happy after 4 years. The x4400 I now have is basically the same as the 6200 (without HEOS) which I don’t Use!

I hope it lasts you another 4 years because it is an amazing amp, which I’m sure you already know :)

I think at this point Yamaha has to really step up their game as it seems every year Denon seem to be edging further and further forward while Yamaha seem to be stagnating, still no 11ch Receiver in 2019 although eARC and airplay 2 announced for this year "yay" so my hats off to Denon for pushing forward even if its in small increments.

I've a feeling that Yamaha would rather leave it up to the individual owners to add additional amplification as opposed to compromising their receivers by including additional channels of integral amplification? Arcam don't even make a receiver with more than 7 integral channels and there are very good reasons to not keep adding more and more integral channels of amplification. THe vast majority of users don't actually have the space to make use of this anyway so why force them to pay for something they'll not need and that will be detrimental to the overall power output of the unit?

The "never mind the quality, feel the width" approach isn't always the most desirable or the most cost effective.

Got to agree with @dante01 on this. I've got plenty of spare onboard amps to rent out on my 6200 and even then I use a stereo amp for the front pair. I'm never going to be able to support more than 5.1.2 in my current home which I'll only be leaving in the back of a black Merc. The natural progression would be a current 6500 if the 6200 failed but that will have even more redundant amps on board.

It's fine to have onboard processing but ramming in more and more amps doesn't seem good nor actually needed. Even trying to bare wire and tighten the binding posts is becoming a nightmare because they are so close together.

You both make absolutely fair points in regards to the on board amplification and i agree for the most part but maybe I'm just expecting much more from Yamaha as I'm now more invested into the denon eco system after coming away from yamaha but there is no denying yamaha's sound quality which I've said in the past , maybe i should of said Id like to have 11ch's and not need them then need them and not have them :)

      Regarding 11 channels (or more).
Having looked inside an 11 channel AVR... there's not much room any more!
The heat out of them running all 11 channels is clearly going to require fans, which in turn eventually create noise and negative air pressure, meaning the AVR's internals get covered with dust sucked in by the fans... which in turn creates more over heating... even though the fans were designed to stop just this.
      So... yeah.
      I do like Anthem's approach - Class D amplification for channels 8, 9, 10 and 11. Makes a lot more sense!

In regards to creating new models for 2019...
Denon / Matantz / Onkyo / Integra / Pioneer have all released (or announced) products... yet none of them have put anything into the market that couldn't be done via a simple firmware update. Their distributors and retailers will be grinding their teeth - but there will be some bargains for consumers looking to pick up old models.
Yamaha's Airplay 2 firmware update rolled out yesterday (as well as Spotify Connect Free functionality). eARC is on its way... and that will put everyone on an even playing field.

Well, that's until iMax Enhanced content is available... however I don't think it'll ever challenge Dolby ATMOS in mind or marketshare.

You've gotta be pretty 'slow' to pay RRP for these knowing they'll be half price in 6 months.

I think the only difference is HDCP 2.3, which I don't believe any devices even support and I'm not even sure what's it for, 8K?

Yamaha state that all of their current HDCP 2.2 compliant devices also comply with HDCP 2.3:

      https://europe.yamaha.com/files/dow...40/web_VCU3910_HDCP2_3_flyer_All_Multi_A0.pdf

I don't see why this would be any different for other manufacturers?

Version 2.3 is simply a reviced version of version 2.2 and does much the same thing.

We've Expanded Our X-Series Line-up with Two New AV Receivers

Most of the "new" aspects of the new models that Denon imply are "new" are actually already apparent onboard the models they replace. The X2600 and lower models do get eARC which Denon hadn't bothered to issue updates for the models these models replace. You would have gotten such an update for the X3400 or above though.

X1500H and X2500H doesn´t have eARC support, the model comparison at Denon UK site shows that. Also the link you provided mentions:

At same timing (1st half 2018), we will issue a firmware update for the following HDMI 2.0 compliant models to achieve eARC compatibility:
      AVR-X3400H, AVR-X4400H, AVR-X6400H, AVC-X8500H

X3600H will be introduced later on June/July, but no new 4000/6000 models this year.
