My Samsung 65MU8000 arrives tomorrow, should just give me time to get this set up for it, believe it already handles HLG.
I'm sure we all have a list of what we want to see next.
      Thank you BBC.

Posted a thread and then saw this! Sorry.

I'm a bit disappointed that my ZD9 isn't able to get it and even the Virgin V6 box can't get it. Another kick in the teeth for the 4k content of Virgin.

Hopefully my LG should be compatible seeing as it'll play the beta iPlayer 4K demo.

Cannot understand why only the bottom end of the entire Sony range is supported.

Most LG sets will be fine. BBC did the HLG demo with LG at IFA in 2016.

The 4k Planet Earth demo clip on iPlayer was SDR only.

Is that why it has Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) in large type on it and my TV changes to HLG HDR mode, or are you talking about a specific device?

Iplayer on SkyQ doesn’t support HLG although it will support UHD.

Blue Planet II comes to iPlayer in 4K HDR

You will need to read the full article, however it states iplayer on SkyQ doesn’t support HLG.

It was based on this quote
from an article and the fact that I don't get HLG from the iPlayer app on my TV, Tivo V6 or Roku Streaming Stick +

Same here, I’ll use the tv app, really looking forward to this, purposely haven’t watched the series as I had a feeling this would happen.

That article is nearly a year old talking about the iPlayer trial from December 2016, it certainly works now (on the built in iPlayer app in 2017 LG), looks impressive too.

If the tv switches to any HDR mode it should pop up onscreen to confirm. I can happily watch this content in 4k, but sadly YouTube doesn't support HDR on my set. iPlayer does though, which is the main thing

My Samsung KS8000 isn’t listed but it has a YouTube app that works with 4k HDR and HLG Clips work too. I’m seriously hoping the iplayer app works on my set even though it’s not listed.

bbc, stop dicking around, ditch a bunch of mpeg sd channels or upgrade them to h264. You will then have plenty of room for a uhd SAT Channel

It's about time. Let's hope this is the start of regular 4K content and not a one off.

It's a shame it's only 2 channel stereo audio though, and the list of supported devices is tiny. No Apple TV 4K or PS4 Pro? That's just bizarre. Baby steps I suppose.

Bit confused with the information being banded about here. I see a couple of people are saying that if your TV doesn't have a HDR YouTube app it won't work, yet my tv doesn't have YouTube HDR support but is on the list of supported devices for the iplayer HLG app but the uhd clip of planet earth plays in SDR. Very confusing.

Guess I'll find out next week.

Got the disc on order anyway, but I'd like to see how much of a difference there is from streaming to disc.

It's got nothing to do with YouTube.

Go to your iPlayer app, go to settings and look for the beta option. In there you should find a test stream for UHD and HLG from Planet Earth 2. Play it. If your tv can display HLG you should see a pop up onscreen telling you the tv has switched to HDR mode. HLG is a type of HDR

The thing I don't get is I tried the HLG test clips on my LG E6 and they worked perfectly but I only have a crappy ADSL internet connection so I have no idea how I am able to stream this content if it requires up to 23MB/S. Thinkbroadband's speedtest says I am getting nowhere near that and yet it works! What strange magic is going on I wonder.

It sucks that my Sony A1 won't be able to play this apparently, even though it has had the HLG update. Presume it's an iPlayer version issue.
