Never had freeview. I did think about just getting the cheapest box, until I saw my friends different systems and different menu's.

So which box do you recommend?

I have a Philips DVP 5960, a crt widescreen tv I inherited (not that great).

Looking for a cost effective solution, but with a nice, quick, easy to use menu.

Does your TV have any kind of auxiliary (or "Ext") input for video and audio- such as SCART or RCA phono sockets?

    Cheers for the reply.

The tv isn't as bad as I make it sound.
I think it's a Goodmans, widescreen with 2 scart and the 3 RGB connections.

Are freeview with card slots (for santana or sky) a lot more expensive?

Freeview receivers will the necessary embedded CAM for Setanta seem to be around the £40 - £50 price range.
A Sky card will not work in any Freeview receiver - different system completely.

And BTW - it's SE-TAN-TA not sultana or banana or santana:rolleyes::D
