Hello people!

Im wanting to upgrade my computer, for video editing using my pvr 2, and maybe to start gaming on the pc again as well as my ps3.

My current system is -

My motherboard is asus M2A-VM, processor is AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core 5600+ 2.80 ghz Ram is 5gb with one slot left pc2 ddr 6400, ati radeon x1200 series, 150 gb hard drive, running on windows 7 32 bit. My case is like a cuboid box with a upside down v and + sign! lol im useless!

I read some where about changing my hard drive to ssd?

Any help is greatful!!!

Thanks:D

That wouldn't do much for video editing and gaming, that improves the general responsiveness such as program startup time.

For video editing you want a better processor, for gaming you additionally want a new graphics card.

Your motherboard does support fairly recently CPUs, one of the Phenom II X4s on that list would be the best option.

Any graphics card will work, something like a Radeon 7770 at £90 is a solid choice if your case supports full height cards (most of those 'cube' cases do).

Would I need any extra fans to help it run smoothly, I want to make a super computer, well as best as I can with what I got already.

Without knowing the case I couldn't say but it's not a hugely hot setup so if you've got a couple of 120mm fans in there already it should be fine

Hello people,

After having some good advice from my previous thread " Newbie Upgrading", i have decided to scrap the idea of upgrading know.

Maybe i should build i new desktop machine, because i really want it for video editing my game-play from my PS3 via my huappuge pvr 2, and to start making use of YouTube for a hobby and some fun. Also I may to start gaming again on the pc, but i haven't gamed on the PC since unreal tournament! :smashin: for UT!!

The reason also for scrapping the idea of upgrading is i think there might be a limitation and a waste of money simply because, i can spend money upgrading to some medoka because of my ASUS M2A-MV motherboard, or start afresh with something that can be good now and great later and SUPER after, with thing moving on so quickly.

Does anyone think there is any sense in this logic, or am i wasting my money by build a new machine and should i just stick with upgrading:rolleyes:!!!

If you think i should just build a new one can i get a decent one bettter than this for £350-400? No need for a screen!!

If you never caught my last thread, my system is ...
