    Hi All,

I'm looking into buying either of these units in a few months, what is better for connection to a PC (HTPC)

And which one has the better quality picture ?? That's in 4:3 & 16:9 modes.........

Soon as i can get some feedback, i can start working out if i can fit in such a beast into my cinema....... ;) lol

    Cheers

The tubesand lenses are identical, barco drive thjem a little harder to get aslightly brighter picture. Picture quality will be the same bar that.
For ease of setup my vote goes to the Barco, 16x9 and 4x3 from same source is possible from both.
the Barco will be much quieter.
Aim to run your PC at 800x600 for the 16x9 mode 1024x768 for 4x3.

Spares and repairs for BArco's much easier. (barco still make CRT projectors)

    Hi Roland,

Cheers for the info, so it's a Barco 801s that's on my shopping list now for later on in the year.

First of all i have to check my room for throw distance, and it'll be floor or table mounted, as the attic roof wouldn't be strong enough to take this kind of weight.

Is there any software i can download to work out throw distance for this projector ??

    Cheers 4 now

    Hi All,

After checking out my room, i can't have a screen wider than 70" not enough width. And due to the room layout the projector would have to be 8' or further back, and because of a low ceiling 7'. It'll have to be floor or table mounted.

    Is this possible ??

I've downloaded both manuals for the 801s now, so i'll have a look at them soon.

    Cheers

Download the barco lens program from here Barco lens Program

I calculate that with a 70" wide screen the back of your projector will be 2545mm to the front mounting bracket.

You will then need to add a further 810mm to get the distance to the back of the projector.
You must then have at least 100mm of space for air behind.

    Thank you again Roland,

I'll download the lens program asap, cheers for the info.

Seems like i could manage to fit the 801s into the room, i'll follow your measurements and double check.

What would be the average price of an 801s unit from you ?? with installation ??

Please pm me, and we can talk further.....

    Cheers
