    Hi,

I'm new to all this surround sound technology so am really confused...

    Here's what I have:

Mirai 27" LCD TV - sound is poor!
Samsung HR720 DVDE/HDD Recorder (has digital optical connectors)
    Sony Freeview box
    XBOX (not 360!)

I wish to upgrade the sound on the above system but have no idea where to start lol The above is for the bedroom, so the room is not that big hence I'm thinking a 5.1 setup should be sufficient. My budget is £150. I don't mind if it's an all-in-one system since the sound quality doesn't have to be brilliant or cinema quality. A remote control would be welcomed.

Please can someone help with regards to recommending a system and how the setup will work. I have read a few posts on the forums and searched the net...most all-in-one systems come with a DVD player...but I don't require an additional DVD player.

    Please help...it's so confusing :lease:

    Many thanks

    Hiya,
I would guess your going to need an 5.1 amp and speakers, maybe something like:

Basically your dvd player would plug into the av amp, that decodes the signal and sends the sound out to the speakers, which you plug in the back of it.

But I'd go and have a listen before you buy, take your dvd player along just incase they can suggest any other options of plugging other bits in to give you the sound your after:)
