Newbie Questions???

I'm going to be switching from Telewest to Sky+ pretty soon and I just had a few questions for you all. I'm going to be getting Sky TV, Broadband and SkyTalk. If there's any other info you can give that'd be great.

1) Do you think it would be better to switch to Sky?

2) What are your views on Sky Broadband MAX. How good is it?

3) Will I have to wait a long time before they install Sky Broadband?

4) ... finally ... What are the specs of the + box? i.e. Recording Time etc

Thanks in advance.

Not knowing why you no longer consider TW good enough limits the responses.

1) SKY hardware can be as flaky/reliable as TW. PQ can be better on SKY then TW and worse than TW, based on reports from people who have both. More channels via satellite (regional BBC and ITV for example) but a lot of them are pretty pointless to the average viewer.
2) It's cheap. It's about as good as I expected a xDSL service to be in regards to speed fluctuations and connection reliability based on BT copper. It's not a patch on my old NTL service but that cost me a lot more money and the difference between the two wasn't worth the NTL premium.
3) Depends what the status of the BT exchange is, you do have a BT phone line?
4) Current PVR3 has a useable 80gig (40hours approx), twin tuner, two scarts (one RGB), optical output (supports DD5.1), RCA phono, two RF outputs.

Deals for new customers can be found on the SKY website along with pricing and package info.

Thankx for the info.

The main reason I'm switching is the fact that I was going to buy a DVD Recorder but i thought a Sky+ would be suitable for that.

The other reason that sways me toward them is the FREE 16MB Broandband.

Not interested in the TVDrive from TW which has three tuners and supports High Def?

Yeah the BASE "free" broadband (£40 setup max 2meg speed) deal is excellent if you have an interest in SKY's subscription packages but you do need a BT phone line. The MAX product which is upto 16meg costs £10 a month but not setup fee.
I would be surprised if TW didn't offer you a deal if you rang up to cancel due to the SKY offer.
