    As the question says

My new Toshiba TV is a Dolby Pro-Logic affair. :D

It has an internal sub. - which does effect the base level quite a bit.
however, is it worthwhile getting a seperate sub too. The TV has a driver to allow an external sub to be controlled from the tv. So it would all integrate nicely

I got this TV to reduce the number of components I had in the lounge - so getting a full AV amp and the works is currently out of the question. (financial controller vetoes it)

What do you mean by driver? Do you mean a sub out put socket?

If you have a sub pre out (output socket), then the sound should improve a LOT with an external active subwoofer.

yep that is exactly what I ment.
it has a sub output socket.
and the Tosh TV lets me switch between the internal sub, or driving an external active sub. :)

oh, and on the other post - I'd be on a loosing battle on that particular argument. :D
