Following some good advice in these forums. I am the proud owner of the following. Denon 2802 Amp. Sony 700 DVD and Mission FS2AV speakers. DVD to amp is via a Ixos coax cable.

Apparently this amp can handle virtually every format thrown at it.

I am just a little confused.

For example I have the w/s version of Gladiator which claims to be Dolby Digital 5.1 and also DTS.

When i switch the amp to auto it seems to output correctly in Dolby digital. However when i switch the amp to DTS i get no sound at all.

    DVD settings are Downmix=Normal, D/Digital = D/Digital, DTS = DTS

Any ideas. Also which is better D/Digital or DTS?

    Cheers

    Adam

lynx is correct, that will be the solution to your problem. When a disc contains both DD and DTS then the default will usually always be DD.You have to manually select DTS from the audio or language options on the disc.If you keep your amp set to auto then it will play whatever format it receives.

Thanks for the info...i actually stumbled across it by mistake at 2am this morning whilst checking out the extras in American Pie 2.

Which format would you recommend playing? Or are there circumstances when one would be better than the other?

    Cheers
