Hi all , I have recently bought (insurance claim - set replacement) a Philips PF375520D LCD TV. I have Sky + and a pioneer DVR 510-H dvd player/recorder.

I currently connect both the sky+ and the DVD via scart leads to the TV. My question is , can I connect either of these to the DVI-I port on the TV, and if so,
    1. How ? What connections would I need ?
    2. Will it improve the PQ ?

Thanks for any help in this matter.

    Hi,

    I'm a semi-noob or is that semi-nude? but anyway... I believe the DVI-I is only for PC's.

But I may also be totally incorrect!

Oops, I have actually got a DVR-520H not 510H dvd. The connections on that are:
Output 1 SCART (AV connector 1)
    RGB Output via Euro-SCART
    1 RCA (Audio/Video)
    1 S-Video
    Optical Digital Audio

    Hmmm, well in that case...
You could buy an RGB scart to VGA converter and then hook it up to the DVI-I with a VGA -> DVI cable, BUT it won't really improve the quality and it's quite a lot of dosh just to make use of the DVI-I input.

Does the Pioneer do RGB loop-through (I think it does)? That is, will it take an RGB scart input and route it through to the RGB output when in standby?

If so, then since you've only got 1 RGB scart on the TV, I would connect the Sky+ to the RGB input on the Pioneer and the Pionner RGB output to Ext1 on the TV.

Failing that, connect your Sky+ to Ext1 (make sure you set Sky to RGB in picture settings) and connect the DVR to Ext2 (making sure to set the AV1 output to S-video).
