hello to all
in currently watchin hd through sky only to a 720p sim2 projector, dvd via arcam dv79.
im thinking of hooking a ps3 via component,as a gamer, and possably watchin blue ray films on it.
how will the arcam compare to the ps3 as a movie player?
is the arcam still a better dvd spinner in sd than the ps3?
or should i wait and get a dedicated hd/blueray disk spinner to replace my arcam 79(which doesnt upscale)
any advice please
thanks
gaz

hi there, i noticedyou have said you would be watching blu-rays in 720p, i'm afraid to say at the moment the ps3 doesn't run blu-rays in 720p only 1080p,1080i or downscales to 480i/p, hope that helps.

i'll be honest and say i don't know the answer to that, i know that on most lcds and plasmas if you uncheck 1080i/p then it will downscale to 480i/p, does your projector scale other 1080i sources to 720p?

As long as the ps3 is set to 1080p, it will output to the resolution of the source
ie dvds : 576p, BDs :1080p, games :720p/1080p, and yes your projector will the do the required scaling. At least that is how I understand it.
